Want to hear a good one? Stick with us… this one’s worth it 👀

We’re heading back to summer, when a certain member of our little wing foiling community, let’s call him Nicolas had a bit of a mishap out in the bay. Somewhere between the moorings and the Old Lifeboat Station, mid-foil or mid-crash (the details are hazy 🤔), the foil itself, yes, the pricey bit underneath that makes you fly decided to part ways with the board and vanish into the deep blue.

Cue days of chaos. A rotating cast of local wing foilers and friends took turns diving, snorkelling, and generally splashing about trying to find it. Everyone wanted to be the one to discover it. Even Captain Woods got involved, sending the drone up and conducting his own “does it sink or float?” test (FYI: it sank in fresh water… still unconfirmed in salt)
Despite heroic efforts, the sea kept her secret. Nicolas and his self-appointed recovery crew eventually had to admit defeat. He splashed out on a new foil, got back out there, and life went on.
Fast forward to October. Nicolas is doom-scrolling through a foiling Facebook group when something catches his eye… a post about a washed-up foil. The same setup, the same stabiliser, the same scratch. Yes — his foil!

But here’s where this story gets wild… it hadn’t washed up in Abersoch. Nope. It had drifted right across the bay to Harlech Beach — 25 kilometres away! 🌊 Bonkers, right?

Whether or not he crossed the finder’s palm with gold, we’ll never know. He’s definitely due some good karma, though. One thing’s for sure Calamity Nicolas is one lucky wingfoiler.

At least now he’s got a spare… and one heck of a story to tell.
The End ✌️
